Kenneth Raymond Brown, 88, of Marshall, MO, died Tuesday, October 10, 2023, at Boone Hospital Center in Columbia.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, October 17, 2023, at Campbell-Lewis Chapel in Marshall with Rev. David Slusher and William W. Harlow officiating. Burial with military rites will follow in Shiloh Cemetery in rural Marshall. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Instead of sending flowers, the family suggests a memorial donation be made to Shiloh Cemetery, the Foster Grandparent Program, The Living Center Activity Fund or Gill Memorial Building Fund. Born March 19, 1935, in Marshall, he was the son of the late Guy Raymond Brown and Helen Elizabeth Barnes Brown. Ken lived in Marshall most of his life and was a 1953 graduate of Marshall High School. He served in the United States Naval Air Force for 3 years during the Korean Conflict. In 1957, he married Lois Smith, and they later divorced, and on April 14, 1978, he married Martha Lee Hawkins Bowlen who preceded him in death on August 2, 2009. Ken worked in retail sales for 33 years, working at Firestone and Western Auto, and then worked for 17 years as the elementary school custodian for Marshall Public Schools. Ken loved, and was loved by, kids and following his retirement he was proud to work with the Foster Grandparent Program. He was an active member of the community and enjoyed helping people by delivering Meals on Wheels and serving on the Shiloh Cemetery board having held every office. Ken was a member of Gill Memorial Baptist Church where he had served as Sunday school director, trustee, usher and on the nominating committee.

Survivors include three children: Jeff Brown (Reta) of Ozark, Paige McDaniel (Scott) of Clinton and Keith Brown (Teresa) of Marshall; Martha's children and their families; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; one sister, Lenora Kelso of St. Louis; as well as nieces, nephews and other extended family.

Ken was preceded in death by his parents and wife.
