Manuel Herrera Sr., age 89, of Rio Rancho, NM, with his family by his side, took his last breath on earth and his first breath in heaven on October 6, 2023.
Manuel was born on February 19, 1934 in Nambé, NM.
Manuel was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and uncle. Manuel loved his family more than anything and was always there for them. Manuel was a good, kind, compassionate man and never had a bad thing to say about anyone.
Manuel served in the United States Air Force for four years.
Manuel will be missed by his family and friends, and although he has gone to be with our Lord, we will love him forever and always.
Manuel was preceded in death by his parents, Cornelio and Antonia Herrera, son, Toby Herrera, grandson, Eric Hogue, father-in-law and mother-in law, Juan and Elvira Ávila, brothers, Lazaro Herrera and Cornelio Herrera Jr.
Manuel is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Viola Herrera of Rio Rancho, NM, daughter, Patricia Váldez (Luciano) of Rio Rancho, NM, son, Manuel Herrera Jr. of Albuquerque, NM, daughter, Gloria Chapman (Charles) of Campbell, CA and son, Robert Herrera of Pflugerville, TX, nine grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews, cousins and many friends.
A Rosary will be recited on Monday, October 16, 2023 at Church of Incarnation, 2309 Monterrey Road NE, Rio Rancho, New Mexico at 10:30 a.m. Following will be a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. Interment will be on Tuesday, October 17, 2023 at Santa Fé National Cemetery, 501 N. Guadalupe St., Santa Fé, New Mexico at 10:00 a.m. Pallbearers will be Charlie Chapman, Jeremy Herrera, Brandon Herrera, Ryan Herrera, Luciano Váldez and Charles Chapman.
