Gerald (Jerry) Colvin, 94, passed away peacefully at Newark-Wayne General Hospital on June
13, 2023. He was born on March 17, 1929 to George E. Colvin and Marjorie Washburn Colvin
in Wolcott, NY. He spent his earlier years working on the various Colvin muck lands. After his marriage to
Euleta Van Duyne in April of 1953, he moved in with her to join in running the family livestock
farm. But, he really loved sitting behind a steering wheel. Jerry drove supply trucks and jeeps in
Japan and Korea for four years while serving in the US Army. After leaving the Army, he drove
a milk truck, hauling milk from neighboring farms to a milk plant in Syracuse. When milk cans
went out of style, he became a school bus driver for the Red Creek CSD, carrying students for
the next 23 years. He was still driving his lawn and garden tractor 10 days before his passing.
Jerry was a member of Post #436 of the American Legion, Masonic Lodge #1187 of North Rose
Wolcott, the Victory United Methodist Church, and the Butler Historical Preservation Society.
He is survived by his wife of 70 years, Euleta; two daughters, Candace VanVleck (Paul Morgan)
of Wolcott, NY and Dawn (Michael) Ludovici of Lyons Falls, NY; four grandchildren; and four
great grandchildren. He is also survived by his older sister, Phyllis Frink of Randolph, NY, his
younger brother, Neil Colvin of Orchard Park, NY and several nieces and nephews. He was
predeceased by two brothers; Donald Colvin of Savannah, NY and Lee Colvin of Michigan. The
family is especially grateful for the care shown by the ICU staff of the Newark-Wayne General
Hospital. Calling hours will be held at the Butler Center Museum (former Methodist Church) in Butler
Center, 4518 Butler Center Road, Butler, NY, 13154 on Saturday, June 17, 2023 from Noon to 2:00 followed immediately by a funeral service and graveside committal service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Butler Center Cemetery Association, PO Box 34, South Butler, NY 13154 or the Victory United Methodist Church, 10511 Duck Lake Rd., Port Byron, NY 13140. Becker-Keysor Funeral Home, Red Creek, is in care of the arrangements.
