Roseann Gertrude Hurtz, 83, of Middle Ridge, WI, passed away Sunday, September 17, 2023, at Caretta House in Holmen, WI. She was born August 16, 1940, to Alphonse and Marie (Frederick) Flock on St. Mary's Ridge.
Roseann graduated from Cashton High School in 1958. She was introduced to a handsome farmer from Middle Ridge who loved to dance, and the rest is history. In 1959 she was united in Holy Matrimony to Eugene Hurtz at the St. Mary's Catholic Church.
Roseann and Gene raised their eight children on the Hurtz family farm. She worked on the farm by his side and when the kids were in high school she worked as a certified nursing assistant at St. Joseph's Villa Nursing Home in La Crosse. Roseann also raised a big garden with a very large pickle patch, where they would sell them to the pickle factory in Sparta, WI. She was devoted to her Catholic faith and was a longtime member of St. Peter's Catholic Church.
Roseann is survived by her husband of 64 years, Gene; children, Darla (Pat) Lucey of Middle Ridge, WI, Susan Moldenhauer of Holmen, WI, Kathryn (Larry) Servais of La Crosse, WI, Karen (Kevin) Gierszewski of Sparta, WI, Marjorie (William) Becker of La Crosse, WI, Richard (Jodi) Hurtz of Tulsa, OK, Kristie (Peter) Hansen of Coon Valley, WI, and Jennifer (Chris) Paulsen of Cashton, WI; a brother, Jim (Jeannie) Flock of Milton, WI; sisters-in-law, Delores, Lavina and Jane Flock; brother-in-law, Ronald Becker; 17 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren, along with many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Roseann was preceded in death by her parents; siblings, Donald, Eugene and LaMont Flock; sisters, Marcella (Jerome) Schreier, Carol (Kenneth) Kammel and Ethel Becker; stillborn grandchildren, Mollie and Joel Lucey; and grandson, Timothy Moldenhauer.
A Mass of Christian burial will be held Friday, September 22, 2023, 1:00 PM at St. Peter's Catholic Church on Middle Ridge, WI. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Family and friends are invited for visitation Friday, from noon until the time of service. The Torkelson Funeral Home of Cashton is assisting the family with arrangements.
