Following a prolonged struggle with COPD and Heart Arrhythmia, Harold Stuart Steed returned to his Heavenly home on April 12, 2008.






Stuart was born on March 26, 1919, to William Henry and Mary Smith Steed in Centerville, Utah. Stuart graduated from Davis High School; served a mission to the Central States Mission, 1940-1942; served in World War II as an Army medic with the 81st Infantry (Wildcat) Division, 1942-1945, earning the Silver Star at Peleliu, Palau Islands and the Bronze Star at Leyte, Phillipines, and served in the Amori Prefecture, Honshu, Japan after World War II ended. He married Esma LaRue Langford in the Salt Lake Temple on June 26, 1947; graduated from Brigham Young University in accounting in 1949; worked at the Geneva Steel Plant in Utah until retirement in 1982; and served as Treasurer for the Provo Temple office until retirement in 2002.







Stuart is survived by his wife; by his siblings, Majorie (Fred) Zesiger and Lowell Smith (Marjean) Steed; by his five children, Eileen (Steve) Illum, David Stuart (Nanette) Steed, Kathleen (Michael) Westover, Bruce Dee Steed, and Lorraine (Stanley) Davis; and by his 19 grandchildren and 21 great-grand children. Stuart was preceded in death by granddaughters, Shara Lynn Illum and Jennifer Marie Pemberton, and by his great grandson, Broden Nathan Pemberton.






Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, April 18, 2008, at the Cherry Hill LDS Stake Center, 1700 S. 400 E., Orem, UT. Family and Friends may call Thursday evening from 6-8 p.m. at the Walker Sanderson Funeral Home, 646 E. 800 N. Orem, UT, and Friday from 9:45-10:45 a.m. prior to Funeral Services at the Church.
Interment: Orem City Cemetery.
