On May 26, 2009, Esma L. Steed, our loving mother, grandmother, and friend, quietly left this life at Beehive Homes of Orem in Orem, Utah.


Esma Larue Langford was born on September 2, 1928 to John C. and Rhoda May Langford in Clarendon, Texas.


Her family moved to Coolidge, Arizona when she was nine-years-old. Esma graduated as salutatorian from Coolidge High School at the age of 16.


After attending college in Arizona for one year, she transferred to Brigham Young University where she met Stuart Steed. They were married in the Salt Lake Temple on June 26, 1947.


Esma is survived by her children Eileen (Steve) Illum, David Stuart (Nanette) Steed, Kathleen (Michael) Westover, Bruce Dee Steed, and Lorraine (Stanley) Davis; and by 19 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren. Esma was preceded in death by her husband Stuart; by two granddaughters, Shara Lynn Illum and Jennifer Marie Pemberton; and by a great-grandson, Broden Nathan Pemberton.


Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, June 1, 2009 in the Cherry Hill Stake Center, 1700 South 400 East, Orem, UT. Family and friends may call on Sunday evening from 6-8 p.m. at the Walker Sanderson Funeral Home, 646 East 800 North, Orem, UT, and on Monday from 9:45-10:45 a.m. prior to the Funeral Services at the Church.
Interment: Orem City Cemetery.
