Thomas and his family joined the LDS Church in England. Thomas was 17 years old when they moved to the Utah Territory of the United States and he helped pull the family's handcart across the plains. This was in 1859.
He married Fanny Gunn, daughter of William Gunn and Emma (Bake) Gunn, 7 May 1865 in Coalville, Summit, Utah. They had 14 children.
Thomas died in Coalville and was buried there 4 Aug 1925.
