MATHIS-BATES WEDDING.
The marriage of Miss Gertrude Eunice Bates and Mr. Bailey Mathis was quietly solemnized at 5:30 o'clock Sunday evening at the home of the bride's mother, Mrs. [Hettie] Bates, on Virginia avenue, in Queensborough. Dr. W. A. Freeman, of the Parkview Baptist church, officiated at the pretty ceremony, which was witnessed by relatives and a few close friends and acquaintances of the couple. The young bride looked very lovely in a gown of white marquisette with handsome trimmings of lace. Carnations and ferns were used to decorate the parlors, in which the ceremony took place, and the bride carried a handsome bouquet of carnations and valley lillies. The groom is a well known and esteemed young contractor of this city and he and his bride have the best wishes of hosts of friends in the married life. Mr. and Mrs. Mathis will be at home with Mrs. Bates at 2429 Virginia avenue.
