MRS. BATES DIES AT 106.
Funeral services for Mrs. Hettie R. Bates, 106, of 2429 Virginia Ave., who died Wednesday afternoon at Magnolia Manor Nursing Home, will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in Parkview Baptist Church.
Officiating will be the Rev. Dr. A. T. Pilgreen, pastor emeritus of Parkview Baptist Church, assisted by the Rev. Kenneth E. Gibson, pastor. Burial will be in Forest Park Cemetery under direction of Osborn Funeral Home.
Mrs. Bates was born in Red River Parish and had resided in Shreveport for the past 68 years. She was a charter member of Queensborough Baptist Church.
Survivors include a son, T. F. Bates of Gary, Tex.; three daughters, Mrs. W. B. Smith of Shreveport, Mrs. W. A. Troegel of Mansfield and Mrs. Oscar Alexander of Alexandria; 12 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren and 10 great-great grandchildren.
