Francis was born on April 9, 1925 in Utica, Nebraska to Albert and Katherine (Mayer) Baker. He graduated from Seward High School in 1943. On June 12, 1947, Francis was united in marriage to Iona Hansen in Exeter, Nebraska. He enjoyed camping and fishing, especially during the annual get-together with relatives and friends at Johnson Lake. Francis retired from Hughes Brothers after working for many years as a maintenance welder. After retirement he dedicated many hours to the Lied Senior Center of Seward - driving the shuttle, mowing the lawn, delivering food, and scrubbing potatoes for their monthly potato bake. Francis also enjoyed time at the Center playing cards and bingo and putting puzzles together. He looked forward to morning coffee with friends as well as eating out in support of various local organizations. Francis passed away on June 22, 2014 in Seward, Nebraska at the age of 89 years, 2 months and 13 days. He is survived by his sons Garry (Debbie) Baker, Columbus, Nebraska, David (Linda) Baker, Lincoln, Nebraska, Richard Baker, Seward, Nebraska, Leon (Becky) Baker, Seward, Nebraska; ten grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; brother-in-law Donal (Donna) Hansen, Lincoln, Nebraska; sister-in-law Margaret Hansen, York, Nebraska. Francis was preceded in death by his parents; wife Iona Baker; brothers Albert (Laura) Baker, Joe (Roberta) Baker, Art (Dorothy) Baker, Milton (Edna) Baker; sisters Rose Baker, Norma (George) Baker, Gertrude (Edward) Neid.
