Virgil Verne Lucas was born Aug. 18, 1899 in Grand Prairie Township to William and Nora J. Stearns Lucas. On Oct. 23, 1920 in Marion, Ohio he married Helen Van-Tyne Gillis.
Verne was a retired farmer, farm drainage contractor and telegrapher for Pennsylvania Railroad.
He is survived by two daughers, Mrs. Quentin (Eleanor) Hinamon, Marion, and Mrs. Richard (Marjorie) Porter, Green Camp; five sons, Richard, Robert, Glenn and John, all of Marion and Delmar of Morral; 28 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren. A son, Allen, a granddaughter and two sisters are deceased.
