J.D. Alexander, 84, of Evansville, Indiana, passed away Wednesday, April 9, 2008, at his residence.

J.D. was born on November 22, 1923, in Christian County, Ky., to the late Milo and Lola (Burris) Alexander. He moved to Evansville to work in the shipyards. J.D. was a United States Army veteran, who served in the Korean War as a sergeant. He retired from Whirlpool Corporation in 1988 after 25 years of service. J.D. was a charter member of the Charles Denby VFW Post No. 2953, where he was a member of the color guard. J.D. was a very patriotic man who honored his country and his flag. He was an avid reader and enjoyed taking annual fishing trips with his friends.

Surviving are his wife of 53 years, June Alexander; daughters, Debbie Shipp and her husband, Dan, Lisa Alexander and her husband, Ron Beadles; son, David A. Stinnett; daughter-in-law, Mrs. John (Sandy) Stinnett; grandchildren, Marshall Shipp, Alex Shipp and his wife, Jessica, David M. Stinnett, Elizabeth Stinnett, Meghan Stinnett and Whitney Stinnett; Victoria Alexander-Beadles, Kevin Heil and his wife, Jenny; great-grandchildren, Jordan Stinnett, Blaine and Tabitha Heil; sister, Gail Finley of Cadiz, Ky.; and nieces and nephews.

J.D. was preceded in death by his parents, son, John Stinnett who passed away in 2003, sisters, Erma and Alma Hensley, and brother, Bryce Alexander.

Funeral services are planned for 11 a.m. Saturday, April 12, 2008, at Browning Funeral Home, 738 Diamond Ave., with the Rev. Robert Nall officiating. Burial in Hawkins Cemetery in Christian County, Ky.

Friends may visit 2 to 8 p.m. Friday, April 11, 2008, at Browning Funeral Home.
