GERBER, Howard Emanuel
Passed away peacefully surrounded by his loved ones on Wednesday, August 30, 2023, at his residence in New Hamburg, Ontario. Howard Gerber of New Hamburg at the age of 88.
Loving husband of Ada (Schlegel) Gerber whom he cherished 66 years of marriage with. Loving father of Myron and Joanne Gerber, Shirley and John Brenneman and Paul and Monique Gerber. Proud and devoted grandfather and great-grandfather of Dan (Meghan) Gerber, Holly (Ben) Parks and their children Warren and Isaac; Kathy (Jay) Cochran and their children Kacey and Kip; Andrea (Kyle) McFarlane and their children (Charlotte, Ruby, Violet, and April; Russell Brenneman, Natalie (Matt) Jantzi and their children Hazel and Hailey; Zac Halliday. Dearly missed by siblings Audrey (Harold) Bender, Carol (Irvin) Wagler, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law Velma Schlegel, Merv (Karen) Schlegel, Sam Wagler, Raymond Ruby (Shirley Roth), special friends Sue and Rick Erb and by many nieces and nephews.
Howard is predeceased by his parents Emanuel and Clara Ann Gerber, mother and father-in-law Ezra and Violet Schlegel, siblings Calvin (Marion) Gerber, Willard (Gladys) Gerber, Beulah (Henry) Ruby, Margaret (Roy) Ruby, Inez (Oliver) Ramseyer, Ellen (Elton) Leis, Helen (Lester) Yantzi and Nancy, great-granddaughter Noelle Parks and by sisters-in-law Elda Wagler and Norma Ruby.
Howard was a very active member of Cassel Mennonite Church. He enjoyed singing and sang in 2 quartets. Howard's passion was farming. He farmed for many years on the farm located in RR#1 Bright. Howard loved spending time with his family and cherished those times.
Relatives and friends are invited to the Mark Jutzi Funeral Home, 291 Huron Street, New Hamburg, on Sunday, September 3, 2023, from 2 – 4 & 6 – 8. The funeral service will take place on Monday, September 4, 2023, at 16th line East Zorra Mennonite Church at 2:00 p.m. with interment prior in the church yard cemetery at 1:30 p.m. Pastor Wanda Amstutz to officiate.
