REYNAL--Eric Young, of Greenport, NY, died peacefully on Sunday, March 6, 2022, at age 85. He is survived by his beloved wife of over 58 years, Carmen Quintana Reynal, his three children, William, Carmen Luz, and Michael, his daughters-in-law, Kristine and Amanda, and his grandchildren Lucy, Henry, George, Charlotte, and Julien. Born in Los Angeles in 1936, Eric was the son of film director, Joseph L. Mankiewicz, and Elizabeth Schermerhorn Young. Following Joe's and Elizabeth's divorce, Eric was adopted by Eugene Saint-Rose Reynal, Elizabeth's second husband, who was a loving father to him. Eric attended the Groton School (1954) and Harvard University (1958) where he studied English literature. Following college, Eric worked for the First National City Bank (which later became Citibank), with whom he stayed for 30 years. Citibank first placed Eric in their Santiago, Chile branch, where he met Carmen. Following their nuptials, Eric worked in Santiago for two years, then worked in Peru, Bolivia, New York, the Bahamas, France, Switzerland, and lastly the United Kingdom. Eric had a deep love of literature, history, art, and music. He is lovingly remembered for his intellect, humor and generosity, and he will always be in the hearts of his family and friends. There will be a Memorial Mass at St. Agnes Church in Greenport, NY on Saturday, March 12, 2022, at 11am.Published by New York Times on Mar. 10, 2022.
