Larry was the first born child of Hazel Elizabeth Wines Miller and Hilbert Lee Miller. He was born at home in Dismal Hollow near Linden, VA and was named after the doctor (Carver) who delivered him.

He grew up near Linden before moving into Front Royal. He attended school in Linden and Front Royal and graduated from Warren County High School in 1955. He joined Marlow Heights Baptist Church in his youth where his mother was an active member.

He had a quiet and unassuming manner and had a sparkle in his eyes whenever he could tease. He was an avid reader and loved to cook, especially fried chicken. When he was drafted into the Army in the '60s he served as cook and upon his discharge worked for Safeway stores as a baker in Maryland. On April 5, 1969, Larry married Faye Whetzel Haag from Nokesville, VA and adopted her 10 year old daughter, Sharon. He and Faye never had any children of their own.

He was a devoted Yankee baseball fan throughout his life, was a devoted family man and enjoyed spending time with his family.

Following a massive stroke which ultimately ended his life just prior to Christmas 1999, he was buried next to his parents in the Miller Plot at Prospect Hill Cemetery, Front Royal, Va. He was survived by his wife, Faye Whetzel Miller and adopted daughter, Sharon Hazlett both of Manassas, VA and one brother Warren Lee Miller (1941 - 2007)of Front Royal, VA.
