Holman Andrews, age 74, prominent and widely known Toccoa citizen, passed away at the residence on Savannah Street Wednesday night at 11 o'clock. Mr. Andrews death was sudden and came as the result of a heart attack.
The son of the late J. C. (Durley) and Martha Verner Andrews, he was born March 26, 1888, in Franklin County, Georgia, but had resided in Stephens County practially all of his life. Mr. Andrews, a retired salesman, was active in the civic, religious, and business affairs of his community. He was a member of the Sunshine Methodist Church, served as Chairman of the Board of Stewards for a number of years, a member of the Board of Trustees of the Church, a member of Toccoa Masonic Lodge No. 309 and a member of the Woodmen of the World. Mr. Andrews also served on the City Board of Tax Assessors for a number of years.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Leila Purcell Andrews, one sister, Mrs. Baxter Williams of Toccoa, two brothers, Arthur Andrews and Cleo Andrews, both of Toccoa. He is also survived by a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held Friday morning at 11 o'clock from the Sunshine Methodist Church with Rev. Douglas Harmon, Rev. Marvin Brewer, and Rev. Peter Richardson officiating
