Raymond Earle Bright, 90, of Roswell, Georgia passed away on July 20, 2023.

He was born and raised in Glenwood, Georgia on December 8, 1932 to the late Della and Noah Bright. He grew up with three brothers and one sister.

After graduating high school, Raymond joined the US Air Force and served in the Philippines and Canada, and multiple states in the U.S., including Georgia, Arkansas, Florida, and Texas.

In 1958, he married his beloved wife, Betty Jean McKendree Bright and they had two children together, Shannon Rena, born in Little Rock, Arkansas and Kevin Lee, born in Orlando, Florida.

He retired from the Air Force in 1972 after 20 years of service and the family settled in Pooler, Georgia, where he worked for the Savannah Gas Company. In 1984, he transferred to the Atlanta Gas Light Company and moved to Marietta, Georgia where he retired in 1997.

Raymond was an avid gardener and enjoyed remodeling projects in his early years with his wife Betty. He enjoyed nature, feeding the birds and squirrels and spent his retirement tending to his KOI pond and picturesque garden. Raymond will be remembered for his reserved nature, enduring love of his late wife and devotion to his children, grandchildren and extended family.

Raymond was preceded in death by his wife of 53 years, Betty J. Bright, brothers, Henry Bright, Noah "N.A." Bright, and sister-in-law Mary Ellen Bright, brother-in-law Burien Smith.

He is survived by his brother, Wade Bright (Dora), sister, Dean Smith, daughter, Shannon David (Alan), son, Kevin Bright (Sandy), grandsons, Jordan and Jason David (Alana), step-grandchildren, Joseph Grabenhorst (Alison), Hans Grabenhorst, III, Megan Magnant (Marcus) and step-great grandchildren, Gavin and Nora Grabenhorst , Claire and Vivian Magnant. Also, He is survived by sister-in-laws, Cathy Boyer (Ray), Marsha McKendree, and nieces Emmie Hayden (Patrick) and TaylorBoyer. His extended Bright family includes many nieces and nephews, as well as great nieces and nephews. Beloved by all.

Inurnment committal service to celebrate his life will be held 9:00 am, August 4th, at Georgia National Cemetery, 1080 Scott Hudgens Drive, Canton, GA 30114. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Raymond's honor to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee.
