Raymond L. Brown, age 78 of Shelbyville, passed from this life July 21, 2023, following an extended illness at St. Thomas Rutherford Hospital with his loving family by his side.

Raymond was born June 4, 1945, to the late Elmer and Lila Pearl Nobles Brown. He worked for the Block Co. for many years and retired from Sequatchie Concrete in 2006 due to health reasons. He always loved to hunt and take care of his dogs; he was a very loving and caring person who always made sure he told you that he loved you. He was a member of the Church of Christ.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by siblings; Evelyn Gregory, Helen Benson, Maggie Dalton, Peggy Spence, Carolyn Prater, Judy Grogan, and a great grandson Nathan Brown.

Raymond is survived by his loving wife of 58 years; Mildred Brown of Shelbyville, sons; Ray (Naty) Brown, Randy (Christy) Brown, of Lewisburg, Rodney Brown of Shelbyville, 7 grandchildren, 3 step-grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren, and 1 step-great grandchild, siblings; Lawrence (Jean) Brown, Mildred Reed, Ricky (Pam) Brown, Margaret (Wayne) Clanton, Brenda (Wayne) Roddy, and Jane (Larry) Rollins; along with his cat, James.

Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday, July 25, 2023, at 1:00 p.m. at Doak-Howell Funeral Home with Larry Hames officiating. Burial will follow at the Hurricane Grove Cemetery.

Visitation with the family will be held prior to funeral services beginning at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home.
