Mrs. Peggy Jo Spence, age 81, of Shelbyville, passed away August 3, 2021, under the loving care and comfort of her family, Lynchburg Nursing Center, and Hospice Compassus.

Funeral services will be 5 PM Friday, August 6, 2021, at Feldhaus Memorial Chapel. Houston Buchanan will officiate, with burial to follow in Pressgrove Cemetery.

The family will receive visitors 3-5 PM Friday at the funeral home.

She was born June 23, 1940, in Bell Buckle, to the late Elmer and Pearl Nobles Brown. She was retired from Bedford Hosiery Mill, a farmer, and a member of Unionville Church of Christ.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by sisters, Evelyn Gregory and Judy Grogan; brothers in law, Robert Gregory, Slick Benson, and Bobby Reed.

Survivors include her husband of 62 years, James Robertson Spence, of Shelbyville; sons, John Spence, and his wife Joyce, of Moore County, Jim Spence, of Shelbyville, and Jeff Spence, and his wife Lisa, of Linden, Tennessee; brothers, Lawrence Brown, and his wife Jean, Raymond Brown, and his wife Mildred, and Ricky Brown, and his wife Pam, all of Shelbyville; sisters, Helen Benson, Mildred Reed, Mag Dalton, and her husband Mickey, Margaret Clanton, and her husband Wayne, Carolyn Prater, and her husband Clarence, Brenda Roddy, and her husband Wayne, and Jane Rollins, and her husband Larry; brother in law, Doyle Grogan; grandchildren, Justin Spence, Jeremy Spence, and his wife Christina, Jonathan Spence, and his wife Erin, Joseph Spence, and his wife Sarah, Jacquelyn Yoes, and her husband Blake, and Jacob Spence; great grandchildren, Jaydin Spence, Jaylee Spence, Jaxtin Spence, Caleb Spence, June Spence, Jiuliana Yoes, and Ramsey Spence.
