WIDELY KNOWN CITIZEN LONG IN ILL HEALTH
Services For Life-Long Resident Will Be Held
Frank H. Zane 84, virtually a life-long resident of Carthage and vicinity and well-known throughout the district, passed away at 1 o'clock this morning in McCune-Brooks Hospital.
Mr. Zane, who made his home with his daughter, Mrs. Ella Calhoon, secretary to the board of education, suffered a paralytic stroke December 2, 1951, and had been in failing health since. the last several months his condition had been more serious. He had been in the hospital the last 10 days. Frank Zane was born March 25, 1868 in Menard county, Illinois. When he was a year old his parents, Mr. and Mrs. James S. Zane, came to Jasper county and settled near Carthage. The son, Frank, engaged in farming northeast of Carthage a number of years and later he was field representative for a creamery. He retired 12 years ago.
His wife, the former Miss Emma LeMasters, to whom he was married in August 1889, passed away February 5, 1943.
Surviving him are the daughter;
Mrs. Calhoon of 1043 South Garrison in Carthage
a son;
James I. Zane of Springfield, MO
a brother; Samuel Zane 422 Cooper in Carthage
a sister;
Mrs. Millie Mentzer of Pawnee, Oklahoma
three grandchildren;
Mrs. Parker O. Rogers [Helen] of 1623 Grand Ave
Mrs. Robert C. Robertson of Belleville, Illinois and
Miss Patty Zane of Springfield, MO
two great-grandchildren
Harry O. Rogers III and Ann Rogers of Carthage
Services were held at the Knell service home.
Rev. Fred W. Schmidtke, pastor of the First Methodist church and burial in Fasken Cemetery northeast of Carthage.
