Roger King Hodsdon Jr.
Sept. 5, 1928 - Mar. 28, 2017
San Jose

Roger passed away peacefully at home with his daughter at his side and the rest of the family nearby. He is preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Jeanette, and his daughter Deanna Bjordahl but leaves behind his other children: Shirley Little, John Bjordahl, Dennis Bjordahl, Ann Svensson and Kim Hodsdon-Law. He is also survived by 8 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren, and extended family. Roger was a dedicated Firefighter with the Santa Clara County Fire Department for 28 yrs. He started at Quito Station in 1954 as a Firefighter. After serving as Captain at Cupertino Station he ended his career at West Valley as a Battalion Chief. He retired in 1981. After retirement, Roger dedicated his time to his family as a loving father and grandfather. In later years he still delighted in keeping up on the events in the lives of his children and grandchildren. He was a great help to everyone in the family and only wished that he still had the strength to help more. We will all miss his wry sense of humor and great stories. There will be a celebration of life early in September following the spreading of his ashes off the coast in Santa Cruz. He will live forever in our hearts.
