Col. Andrew Sutherland was the son of Peter and Carol (Bush) Sutherland. He was the husband of Naomi Annie (Cooley) Sutherland. Naomi died December 15, 1870. Col. Sutherland was the father of Rev. Andrew Sutherland, Rev. Carroll Sutherland and Rev. Fletcher Sutherland. The three brothers were ministers in the Methodist Episcopal Church. He was the grandfather of the Seven Sutherland Sisters.
