Delpha Dora Nichols daughter of Samuel and Elizabeth Nichols) she was the eldest of the 12 children Allen Joe 1891-1961, Mary Ellen 1895,Callie Dona 1898-1967, Jackson 1903 ?, Rachel 1903-1988 (twin of Jackson)Macy Ann 1905-1984 Eva Cornie 1907- ?,Nolan Buddy 1986 _ ?, Martha Ann 1886-1916, Dalton Richard 1889-1976, and wife of Silias Simon Carter. They were the parents of eleven children: 2 infants who died at birth; Clara Bell Carter Crews Craven;Blanche Eloise Carter Smith Huey; Silas Dewey; Samuel Jacob; Irene Carter Dickinson; James Joseph; Mary Myrtle Carter Coe; Grady and Raybon. Silas Simon was a farmer and spent most of his life in Blackshear, Pierce County, Georgia. Silas died in Jacksonville, Florida on March 3, 1946 and is buried in the Evergreen Cemetery in Jacksonville. Delpha Dora Nichols Carter is buried near her husband. Clara Bell Carter Crews Craven described the family as "very close and happy."
