Raybon Carter, 75, of Palatka died Saturday, March 15, 2003 at Memorial Hospital in Jacksonville following an extended illness.
He was a native of Waycross, Ca., and had been living here for the past 51 years, coming from Green Cove Springs. He was a veteran having served in the U.S. Merchant Marine during WW II. He retired from the Georgia-Pacific Corporation in Palatka in 1987 as a millwright after 41 years of service. He was a member of Shiloh Baptist Church in Green Cove Springs and was a member of Pineland Lodge #86 F&AM, Morocco Temple, AAONMS in Jacksonville, the Putnam County Shrine Club in East Palatka and the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers, local #1098 for over 50 years.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 53 and one and a half years, Delphine Blevins Carter.
Surviving are two daughters, Shirlene Kuleski and Ann Jimmison, both of Palatka; two sons, Eugene Carter and James Carter, both of Palatka; a sister, Irene Dickinson, Sarasota; and two brothers, Joe Carter and Grady Carter, both of Palatka; six grandchildren, Chris Kuleski, Brian Kuleski, Jessica Kirkland, Julianna Gross, Dane Jimmison and Kristin Hall; and six great-grandchildren.
Flowers are gratefully accepted or memorial gifts may be sent to Shiloh Baptist Church, 1055 County Road 226, Green Cove Springs, FL 32043 or to Shriners Children's Hospital, 12502 North Pine Drive, Tampa, FL 33612.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday evening, March 18 at Masters Funeral Home of Palatka.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 19 at Shiloh Baptist Church with the Rev. Keith Stewart and the Rev. Charlie Hunt officiating.
In celebration of Mr. Carter's life a video tribute will be shown during the service.
Interment with Masonic Rites performed by Pineland Lodge #86 and military honors bestowed by the U.S. Navy will follow in the Shiloh Cemetery.
