ELKHART – Linda Burleson, 83, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on June 13, 2023, at Elkhart General Hospital.
She was born December 19, 1939, in Goshen, IN to Paul and Lucile (Shank) Messner.
Linda was a 1957 graduate of Elkhart High School. She married Travis L. Burleson on February 14, 2004, in Aruba.
She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, doting on "her three boys". She lived life to the fullest through the simple pleasures of spending time with family and friends. She was a resolute Catholic at St. Thomas the Apostle Church. She enjoyed being a euchre "winner" and watching sports, having been a lifelong fan of Notre Dame football and basketball as well as Chicago Cubs baseball.
Linda worked at Drake's Department Store and later at Ankersen's, where she loved working with the public. She retired from Phillip's Products.
She is survived by her husband, Travis; her three sons, Ross (Stacey) Raifsnider of Fishers, IN, Brent (Sue) Raifsnider of Elkhart, and Brian (Glenda) Raifsnider of Brentwood, TN; three stepchildren, Jody Burleson, Sherry Burleson-Irsik, and Travis D. (Ann) Burleson; six grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Linda's first husband, Lawrence E. Raifsnider of Punta Gorda, FL also survives.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother James (Judith) Messner, and sister Rae Ann (Jerry) Lane.
The family will greet friends at a Celebration of Life at 10am Friday, June 23rd at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church. A funeral mass will begin at 11am, with a processional to the final resting place at Rice Cemetery.
