OBITUARY :
WILLIAM E. HARBAUGH, aged 67 years for thirty-five years a member of the Washington Township, Pa., Board of Education, died Saturday night at his home at Buena Vista Springs, Pa. Death was due to cancer.
Mr. Harbaugh had been in ill health for the last four years and critically ill since January. In March he underwent an operation at the Waynesboro Hospital. He had been confined to his bed for the last seventeen days.
He was born in Harbaugh Valley, the son of Carleton and Amanda (Wagaman) Harbaugh, and lived there until a young man when he moved to Buena Vista Springs, where he had resided for the last forty-five years.
He was superintendent of Buena Vista Springs Hotel for forty-two years. He was the organizer of the Monterey Rifle and Hunt Club.
He had been postmaster at Buena Vista from 1917 until 1931 when the hotel was closed.
He was a member of the Lutheran Church of Rouzerville.
Mr. Harbaugh was married to Annie May Socks, forty-three years ago.
Surviving are his wife and these children: Harry Vista Harbaugh, married Ida Louise Raumschussel; Raymond Harbaugh and Herbert Harbaugh, all of Route 4, Waynesboro, Pa., and Miss Mary Harbaugh, at home. Seven grandchildren, two brothers, Elmer Harbaugh and Martin Harbaugh, Sabillasville, and five sisters, Mrs. Ida Dutrow, Mrs. Hattie Sprenkle, both of Harrisburg, Pa.; Mrs. Rose Anderson, Emmitsburg; Mrs. Harry Eyler, Highfield, and Mrs. Nettie Kipe, Sabillasville, also survive.
Funeral services Tuesday afternoon from the home.
