Son of John & Mary (Coulter) Armstrong born in Wheeling, VA (before WV statehood) and the husband of Rebecca Porter.

He dies sometimes after the 1880 Census and before Rebecca's death in 1890.

They married in 1856 in Tyler County, WV. He died sometime before 1890 because Rebecca was listed as a Widow when she died on 24 Jul 1890 in Wheeling, WV. It was noted she was the daughter of Grant & Eliza and was buried somewhere in Moundsville, WV.

It is assumed he is also buried in Moundsville along with his wife and daughter. Daughter Mary Jane Sigafoose in buried in Mt. Rose Cemetery in Moundsville. Children Andrew & Ida Jackson are buried in Greenwood in Wheeling.

He is next seen on the Civil War Draft dated in Elisabethtown, WV age 33 on 1 Jul 1863, b. Wheeling, Occupation Turner and married. (his birthyear comes from this record).
