1875 - 1959
Mrs. Rose Riggs Ahlstrom, 83 [84], mother of Dwane Ahlstrom of Provo, died in Salt Lake City on Thursday of causes incident to age. She was at the home of a daughter, Mrs. Reva Davenport.
Mrs. Ahlstrom was born Jan. 30, 1875 at Kanarraville, Iron County, the daughter of William Sears and Sarah Reeves Riggs. She was married to Frank Ahlstrom, Sept. 30, 1896 at Henrieville, Garfield Co. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.
The family resided in Tropic until 1943 when they moved to Provo. Mr. Ahlstrom died Feb. 10, 1952. Mrs. Ahlstrom has made her home with her daughter for the past six years, where she was able to be about until the time of her death.
An active member of the LDS Church she also served for many years in the presidency of the Relief Society and has also been a teacher in the Sunday School, the Mutual Improvement Association and the Primary.
She is the mother of nine children, four of whom survive: Mrs. L. Ray (Reva) Davenport of Salt Lake; Dwane Ahlstrom, Provo; Floyd and Glade Ahlstrom, Van Nuys, Calif.
Funeral services will be held Monday at 12 noon in the the Kimball LDS Ward Chapel, 2280 S. 3rd E. Friends may call at the Larkin Mortuary on East South Temple Street from 6 to 8 p.m.
Graveside services will be conducted Monday afternoon at the Provo City Cemetery. Burial will follow.
