Edith Mae (Fortney) Miller
July 24, 1945 — May 16, 2023
Bartlesville, OK

Edith was born July 24, 1945, in Fresno, CA, as one of 18 children to James Otis Fortney and Irene Jeannette (Smith) Fortney. She passed away May 16, 2023, in Tulsa, OK.

Edith was married to Charles Miller on September 20th, 1966, in Miami, OK. They started their family in 1967 and built a home in Wynona in 1970. Together they raised four children. Her children were the center of her world and raising them was one of her proudest accomplishments. Throughout her life, Edith was a skilled cook who also worked at a nursing home for a period of time where she prepared meals for the residents and later became a homemaker. She enjoyed cooking for her family and listening to music and dancing while she worked around the house. Edith's family was very important to her, and she spent as much time as she could with them. In her free time, she loved to play games with her family such as Yahtzee or any dice or card game. She also liked fishing with her family and watching scary movies or various game shows. Edith had an incredibly outgoing personality; she never met a stranger and loved to talk! The room would immediately light up when she entered it. Her friendly demeanor endeared her to many people over the years. Edith was a caring mother to her children and an adored grandmother to her grandchildren. Her warm personality left a mark on everyone who knew her. She will be greatly missed but never forgotten.

She is survived by her daughter, Darla Newell and husband, Troy; son, Dustin Miller; grandchildren, Brittani Martinez and wife Tina, Devon Miller, Travis Martinez and fiancée Bonnie, Skyler Thompson, William Owens Jr., Josh Newell and wife Sarah, Charlee Miller, Cameron Bell, Luciel Hughes, and Jacob Hughes; several great-grandchildren; siblings, Dorothy Hope, Mavis Redeagle, Lonnie Fortney, David Fortney, and Darwin Fortney; and many other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Miller; two daughters, Tamera Moore, and Charla Arnce; parents, James and Irene Fortney; sisters, Maxine Fortney, Louann Bryan, Sue Jones, Billie Redeagle, Edna Briggs, Madelyn Niblack, Nancy Penland and Wilda Jean Deatherage; and brothers, Leo Merchant, Harry Merchant, James Fortney and Lincoln Fortney.
