"The LaFayette Sun" - March 27, 1918:

Prather - Embrey.

The marriage of Miss Maggie Prather to Mr. Richard Embrey, which was solemnized at the home of the bride's mother, Mrs. M. A. Prather, at Roanoke, Ala., on Sunday morning, March 17th, will be of interest to their many friends.
The reception hall was beautifully decorated in smilax, ferns, bridal wreath and vases of pink and white carnations.
Just before the ceremony Miss Annie Hayden Reed sang sweetly "The Sunshine of Your Smile," played by Miss Ruth Veazey, of Fredonia. The bridal party entered to the strains of Mendelssohn's wedding march. The maid of honor, Miss Ruth Ison, of Birmingham, wore a gown of Alice blue silk and georgette crepe and carried white carnations. Next came the bridesmaid, Miss Laura Prather, sister of the bride. She was lovely in white satin, trimmed in crystal and maline. She carried pink carnations. The bride wore a going away suit of gray, with hat and shoes to match. She carried bride's roses and ferns. The bride descended the stairway on the arm of her brother, Mr. Henry Prather, who gave her away. They were met at the altar by the groom, of Roanoke, and his best man, Mr. Belmont Pearson, of Wedowee.
Miss Veazey softly played "Humoresque" while Dr. Rucker pronounced the very impressive words of the ceremony.
Immediately after the ceremony the bridal party left for LaGrange, Ga. From there the bride and groom went to Atlanta for several days.
Their many friends join in wishing the happy pair much happiness and prosperity.
