Helen was a graduate of Central Bible College. She considered her most important role in life to be that of devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She enjoyed crocheting, reading, gardening, and baking pies, and she was also well-known for her homemade cinnamon rolls, chicken and dumplings, and taco shells (affectionately known to family and friends as "rubber cakes").
She is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Bob and Sherry of Missouri; one daughter, Dana Alford of Indiana; two grandsons, Kenny Tyson and Kristopher Alford of Indiana; one brother and sister-in-law, Dean and Cathy Whitfield of Missouri; one brother-in-law, Dennis Speak of Missouri; one sister-in-law, Carol Jakab of Pennsylvania; and a host of loving nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, seven sisters, and three brothers.
In accordance with Helen's wishes, there will be no funeral services. A private family burial will be held at a later date in the family plot of Galatia Cemetery, Norfork, Arkansas. Local arrangements have been entrusted to the Jones-Smith Chapel of Armes-Hunt Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 259 North Main Street, Upland, Indiana.
