Homer Levon Beard, of Memphis, TN, 89 years of age, passed and went to be with the Lord on October 12, 2010 after a long illness at Ashton Place Nursing Facility of Memphis, TN.
He was retired from Baptist Memorial Hospital of Memphis, TN, and was a World War II Veteran. He was a member of Spirit Life Worship Center Church of God of Memphis, TN.
He joins his mother, father, brothers, sisters, nephew, Marion Free; and great-nephew, Jeremy Allen Griffin, and friends.
He is survived by his sister, Myrom Free of Ruleville, MS; niece, Brenda Griffin (Jerry) of Millington, TN; niece, Margaret Morris (Charles) of Drew, MS; great- nieces, Becky Watkins and Tanya Mitchell; great-nephews, Tim Sumner, and Chuck Morris; great, great- nieces, Kacey Marie Watkins, Heather Sumner, Savannah Sumner, Brianna Sumner, Sara Johns, Hanna Mitchell, great, great- nephews, Anthony Chase Watkins, Jacob Watkins, Noah Mitchell, and Jaylen Austin Griffin Mansfield.
Visitation will be Thursday, October 14, 2010 from 5:00- 8:00 p.m. at Ray Funeral Home. Funeral service will be Friday, October 15, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. at Ray Funeral Home with Brother Johnny Cherry officiating. The burial will follow funeral service in West Shady Grove Cemetery in Tomnolen, MS.
