8 June 1972: Erma C. Hoffer, 74, died at the home of her son, Abel M. Hoffer, Manheim RD 3, Tuesday, following a long illness. She had resided with her son. The widow of Melvin G. Hoffer, she is survived by five children: Abel; Dorothy H., wife of Norman Sauder, Manheim RD 4; Enos A., Hoffer, Penryn; Helen R., wife of Jay N. Miller, Manheim RD 3; and Anna Mary, wife of John S. Youtz, Manheim RD 2; 11 grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren. She is also survived by two sisters, May, wife of Alvin K. Bollinger, Lititz RD 4; and Esther, wife of Luke Hibshman, Palmyra RD 1, and two brothers, Benjamin W. Smith, Manheim and Wayne Smith, Annville. [Lebanon Daily News]
