Abel M. Hoffer, 52, Manheim R5, was dead on arrival Monday night at Hershey Medical Center. He had been found earlier in the evening in his truck along Route 283 near Middletown. After an autopsy at the center yesterday, a State Police spokesman said death was caused by a heart attack. Born in Penn Township, he was the son of the late Melvin G. and Erma Smith Hoffer and the husband of Lottie Erdman Hoffer. He was a self-employed truck driver fro Worster Motor Lines, North East, Erie County, Pa. An Army veteran of World War II, he was a member of American Legion and the Veterans of Foreign Wars. In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Dorothy A., wife of J. Reah Harnish Jr., Lancaster; and Linda K., wife of Dale G. Johnson, Manheim; and three grandchildren. Also surviving are three sisters and a brother; Dorothy H., wife of Norman D. Sauder; Manheim R5; Enos A., Penryn; Helen R., wife of Jay N. Miller, and Anna Mary, wife of John S. HOFFER - Entered into rest in Dauphin County on July 16, 1974, Abel M. Hoffer of Manheim, R5, Pa., in his 53rd year. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the funeral from The Buch Funeral Home, 21 Market Square, Manheim, Pa., on Saturday at 10 a.m. Interment in the Graybill's Brethren Cemetery, Elm, Pa. Friends may call at The Buch Funeral Home on Friday evening from 7 to 8 p.m. and Saturday morning one hour prior to the service.
