She was born February 16, 1945 on the family farm near Victoria, the daughter of Emmanuel J. and Amelia (Scheck) Lang. She was a 1964 graduate of Victoria High School, and on May 8, 1965 she was united in marriage to Kenneth P. "Ken" Leiker in Victoria. They celebrated over 55 years of marriage before he preceded her in death on March 15, 2021. She was a homemaker and worked at the Hadley Hospital Coffee Shop. Her hobbies included crafts, embroidery, crocheting, gardening, and canning. Darlene was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Hays, devoutly prayed the Rosary, and she loved her family and providing a loving home for them.
Survivors include her son, Troy Leiker of House Springs, MO, daughter, Connie Werth and husband Vincent Werth, Jr. of Hays, a sister, Jeanette Jacobs of Topeka, three grandchildren, RaeLynn Werth, Cheyenna Leiker, and Chance Leiker, two great grandchildren, Emma Rose and Aliza Jane Leiker, and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Ken, a brother, Francis Lang, and three sisters, Lillian Lang, Bernadette Kreutzer, and Doris Kohlrus.
