After a brief service at the home of funeral of Clyde Walker was held at the Hamlet Union Church Wednesday afternoon.
The pastor, W.A.Alfors was assisted by the Rev. David Wine who delivered the sermon. The music was furnished by the Mt. Zion male quartette. The pall bearers were Orin Daniels, Clyde Gardner, Joe Egle, Marshall Heiner, Charles Coe, & Orville Shoemaker.
Burial was made in the Riverside Cemetery at Wauneta by Johnston Mortuary.
Clyde Leonidus Walker, son of Sayers Bratton & Louretta Walker was born in Brown County, Ohio, March 4, 1883 and answered the final call at his home N.W.of Hamlet, April 28, 41 at the age of 58 years.
When he was 2 1/2 years of age he moved with his parents to Clay Co., Nebraska and a year later to Chase Co. where he grew to manhood.
In 1904 he was married to Jennie S. Elliott, and celebrated his 37th anniversary with Mrs. Walker on the 17th of April.
To this union were born three children; one daughter, Mabel Marita, who died Jan. 6, 1922 at the age of 16 years; two sons, Obed Ulysses and Leonel Elliott, both of whom live N.W. of Hamlet.
Their wedded life has been spent in and near Wauneta and Hamlet, with the exception of seven years in Iowa.
While living in Iowa he was converted to the Christian faith and became a member of the Methodist church. When the family returned to Nebraska, he followed his Lord in baptism and united with the Hamlet Union church where he has served as an elder for nearly 20 years.
For the past four years he has been suffering from a heart ailment which was finally the cause of his death.
He leaves to mourn his departure, his devoted wife; his two sons, Obed & Leonel; two grandchildren, Clyde Jr. and Marita Mae; one grandchild Connie Lee who preseaded him in death 1/06/1938; three brothers & one sister. His parents and bro. Clarence passed on some years ago.
Clyde was a man of highest integrity,& greatly respected by all who knew him. Quiet and unassuming, he lived his life with a singleness of purpose, to provide well for his family, to be a good citizen and bear his responsibilities with dignity and care, in all of which he was most successful.
