Mathilde Bernice Millet Maggio, born September 25, 1927, passed away, peacefully at her home in New Roads, La. on June 30, 2021, at the age of 93. She was loved by all that knew her. She was married 54 years to her late husband, Joseph "JP" Paul Maggio, Jr. A longtime parishioner of St. Mary's Catholic Church in New Roads, she loved cooking for friends and family and playing cards. She is survived by her five children, Clent Maggio (Becky), Jay Maggio, Paulette Strate (Larry), Sammy Maggio (Kathryn), and Jill Maggio, grandchildren, Luke Strate, Jenny Arceneaux (Corey), Jodi Constantine (Duston), Derek Maggio, Rebecca Maggio, Alec Maggio, Brennan Maggio, and Logan Maggio, seven great-grandchildren, and sister, Lorraine Harris. She is preceded in death by her parents, Joseph Millet, Jr. and Marie Millet; siblings, Doris Barbier, Evelyn Dayries, Marlene Lee, Tuttie Breaux, Ed Millet, and Gerald Millet. She will be dearly missed by all. Special thanks and love to all who helped care for her during her illness and made it possible for her to remain in her home, Pointe Coupee Homebound Health and Hospice, her caregivers: Patricia Guidroz, Connie Hurst, Karen Hurst. Pallbearers will be Derek Maggio, Luke Strate, Brennan Maggio, Logan Maggio, Gavin Arceneaux, and Mike Miller. Visiting will be held at St. Mary's Catholic Church Hall on Monday, July 5, 2021 from 9:00 am until 11:00 am. The Mass of Christian burial will follow in St. Mary's Catholic Church at 11:00 am. The entombment will follow in False River Memorial Park Mausoleum. Memorial donations may be made to Pointe Coupee Hospice.
