Edward F. "Brother" Millet, an avid hunter and fisherman, a retired partner of HM&W Grocery in Morganza and an Army veteran, having served as a sergeant in World War II, died at 8 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 21, 2011, at Pointe Coupee General Hospital. He was 88, a resident and native of Morganza. He received numerous medals for his service, including the Purple Heart, Meritorious Unit Award, Good Conduct Medal and the World War II Victory Medal. Visiting at St. Ann's Catholic Church in Morganza on Friday, Dec. 23, from 9 a.m. until Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m., celebrated by the Rev. Keun-Soo Lee. Entombment in the church mausoleum. He is survived by four sisters, Bernice Maggio, of New Roads, Marlene Lee, Lorraine Harris and Meredith "Tuttie" Breaux, all of Baton Rouge; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by is wife, Emmalize Gosserand Millet; parents, Joseph F. Millet Jr. and Marie Mathilde Dayries Millet; sisters, Evelyn Dayries and Doris Barbier; and brother, Gerald Millet. Pallbearers will be Clent Maggio, Robbie Breaux, Jeff Harris, Clarence "Woots" Wells, Dailey Sicard, John Lee and Ricky Dayries.
