"Peg" Peggy Jean Kapke, age 71 of Blanchardville died on Monday morning, April 3, 2023 surrounded by her family after a very short illness. She was born on October 4, 1951 at the St. Clare Hospital in Monroe to Eldridge Burnell & Barbara Jean (Paulson) Erickson. She grew up in the Argyle area farming with her parents and family, the oldest of seven children. Peg started school at the Meadowbrook rural school, and then went to the Argyle grade and high school, graduating in 1969. She began working at Madison General Hospital, eventually becoming a CNA. She met her husband, Robert A. Kapke, Jr. when Bob was in the Army. They were married September 2, 1972 at the Adams Lutheran Church in rural Argyle. Peg and Bob settled in Blanchardville where she lived for the remaining 50 years of her marriage and life.

Peg cleaned houses and then babysat in her home. She also waitressed at the Norseman Supper Club in Argyle for a few years. Peg began her banking work as a teller in 1984. She has continued working in the bank in Blanchardville since then right up to a couple weeks before her death. The bank was operated as the First National Bank of Blanchardville, the Park Bank, and currently the Woodford State Bank. Peg played tennis, horseshoes, softball and volleyball through her earlier years. She was a tremendous housekeeper, always meticulous! She loved having and planting flowers around their home. She was a tremendous sports fan for her children, grandchildren and family; also the Wisconsin Badgers, Brewers and Packers. Peg was selfless and always took care of her parents, and her family. She loved hosting the annual family holiday gatherings. Peg was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister.

Peg is survived by her husband Bob Kapke of Blanchardville; her two daughters Barbara (Sony Khanna) Ruegsegger of Fitchburg, and Bette (Scott) Friske of New Lisbon; five grandchildren, Carter and Coy Ruegsegger, Samantha (Jon Hendrickson), Brittany (Justin Vruwink) and Brock Miller; four step-grandchildren, Sierra, Nathan and Carson Friske and Greyson Vruwink; two great-grandchildren, Raelyn Jean Vruwink and Onyx Allen Hendrickson; six siblings, Glenda (Ron) Camron of Monroe, Gloria (Louis) Scherer of Monroe, Bev (Bob) Wartenweiler of Monroe, Harlan Erickson of Argyle, Helen (Dave) Rabe of Brodhead, Lynette (Gary Duncan) Dornink of Lancaster; and many nieces, nephews, family and friends. Peg was preceded in death by her parents, her daughter Bobbi Jo Kapke who died at the age of 10 in 1984 from Leukemia, and her son Brian Kapke who died in 1995 from a heart aneurysm ; a step-grandchild, Cora Friske; and a brother-in-law, Jeff Dornink.

A visitation for Peg will be held on Saturday, April 15, 2023 from 10:00 am until 12:30 pm at New Hope Lutheran in Blanchardville. A funeral service will follow at 1:00 PM at New Hope Lutheran. Rev. Chris Strohm will officiate.

A funeral lunch will be held at the church following the funeral. Saether Funeral Service of Blanchardville is assisting the family.
