Albert "John" Barenthin Jr., 74, of Champaign passed away Saturday, March 25, 2023 at Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri.

A memorial service will be 11:00 a.m., Thursday, April 6, at Stratford Park Bible Chapel, 2801 W. Kirby Ave., Champaign with Pastor Kenneth Raymond and Pastor Jeremiah Sander officiating. Baier Family Funeral Services, Paxton is assisting the family with arrangements.

Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m.-11:00 a.m., Thursday prior to the service at the church.

John was born March 29, 1948 in Minneapolis, Minnesota the son of Albert John Sr. and Ruth Elizabeth Herin Barenthin. He married Linda Grohler November 9, 1974. She survives.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Kenneth Richard Barenthin.

John worked as a salesperson for the majority of his career, retiring from Matt's Cookies in 2018. He also spent over 20 years at the Champaign Park District in sports officiating.

The family would like to give a special thank you to staff of the Leukemia/Lymphoma Center on the 9th floor and the 7th floor Stem Cell Transplant and Oncology ICU at Barnes-Jewish Hospital.

Memorials may be made to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, Stratford Park Bible Chapel, Champaign or the Champaign Park District.
