Kenneth Richard Barenthin, 66 of Monticello, Il passed from this world to his Heavenly Home on Dec. 8, 2017. Ken was born in Minneapolis, MN on May 24th, 1951. His parents were Al and Ruth (Herin) Barenthin, both deceased.

Ken is survived by his wife of 25 years Cindy (Hawbaker) Barenthin, his children Matthew (Tiffany) Barenthin and family of Oklahoma, Emma (Alfred) Hitchcock of Arkansas, and the children that he helped raise and loved as his own Jared (Lindsay) Trigg, of Danville, IL, and Lauren (Eric) Meyer of Cedar Rapids, IA. He was “Papa” Ken to Marina, Owen, and Collin. Also surviving are sister Jean Barenthin of Savoy and brother John (Linda) Barenthin of Champaign.

Ken was the Branch Manager for Prairie Farms Dairy in Urbana, IL and had been with the company for 26 years. He enjoyed his job and all the people he worked with and met during that time.

Ken served in the music ministry at Calvary Baptist Church and previously at First Christian Church. He was the founder of Silver Lining Quartet and past member of Singing Men.

Ken was an amazing man who had great compassion and caring for all he met. He was goofy and fun and loved laughter and life. He enjoyed baseball and when he could no longer play that he took up golf and yard work. He enjoyed traveling, sunsets, coffee, and quiet time.

Ken’s favorite time of the year was Christmas. All the lights, sounds, kindness, and happiness to celebrate the birth of his Savior. He wanted that all year long.

Ken will be missed by so many, especially his family. He fought a long hard battle with cancer and remained positive and encouraging to the end. We love you Ken, until we meet again. Hugs and Kisses.

Services will be held at Mackey-Wright Funeral Home, 215 E Washington St, Monticello IL 61856

Visitation 2-4 on Saturday, December 16, 2017 with Memorial Celebration immediately after.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to an “education fund” for the grandkids.
