Hilda Pamelia Eden Gaston of the Heritage Care Center in Fairbury was born on November 10, 1898 near Belvidere, Nebraska. She passed away on November 1, 1993 at the Jefferson County Memorial Hospital at the age of 94 years, 11 months, and 21 days.

She was the eldest of seven children born to Florence Ellen Steele Eden and George B. Eden. She was baptized at the Lutheran Church at Bruning, NE in her infancy. She then joined the Methodist Church at Alexandria in her early teens and later joined the United Methodist Church in Fairbury where she received her 50 year membership pin.

She attended school District 30 of Thayer Co. and Graduated at Hebron, NE. She was a member of the United Methodist Woman, the Happy Hour Extension Club and the VFW Auxiliary 3113. She enjoyed the many activities and remained active in all of them until she entered the Heritage Care Center.

On July 4, 1923 she was united in marriage to Roy J. Gaston and to this union one son was born, Wayne. She was also a truly devoted Mother to four step children, Floy (Mrs. Truman Garber), Roberta (Mrs. Herbert Garber), Blanch (Mrs. Melvin Frades), and Harley Gaston. She and her husband farmed near Daykin, NE and in 1936 moved to a farm near Reynolds. They continued farming until their health failed and then moved to Fairbury in the fall of 1960.

She is preceded in death by her husband Roy, parents Florence and George Eden, 3 sisters, Grace, Edith, and Florence and 1 brother George, step son Harley and grandson Stanley Frades. She is survived by her son Wayne and his wife Idonna of Fairbury, 3 daughters, Floy Garber of Fairbury, Roberta Garber of Kansas City, MO and Blanch Frades and her husband Melvin of Fairbury, 1 sister Ida Lena Elam of Grand Junction, CO and one brother Harry Eden of Shoshone, Idaho, 14 grandchildren, several great grandchildren and great great grandchildren, nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were November 4, 1993 at the United Methodist Church of Fairbury. Pallbearers were grandsons, Larry Gaston, Dennis Gaston, Vernon Gaston, Lloyd Garber, Donald Garber, and Rodney Hellbusch. Burial in Fairbury Cementary.

Hilda was my great Grandmother and I fondly remember going to the farm and later to their home in Fairbury. We always had so much fun there, everytime that we were going to go there they always planned a family reunion so we could see everyone.
