Rodney Eugene Carey was born on June 21st, 1961 in Wagoner, OK, the son of Geneva (Welch) Christie. He was raised with two brothers and four sisters, David Ledbetter, Ronnie Carey, Eva Webb, Donna, Deborah Hall and Connie Carey. He grew up in the Hulbert Community. Rodney always loved his hometown and the people in it. He graduated from high school and then decided to earn his living as a brick mason in the construction industry. When he wasn't working, and he did that a lot, you could find Rodney doing a little hunting or fishing. He was always working on a car, or "piddling" around the yard doing odd jobs. This was done in the company of his favorite canine companion, "Dug". Whenever he had the chance, he liked to travel around and see new and different things. He was the proud papa of one son, Eugene and one daughter, Selena. He never missed the chance to spend a little time with them. He liked keeping up with the activities of his four grandchildren, Justin, Cheyanne, Kaylee and Riley. Family gatherings and holidays were something special for Rodney. He liked hearing the old stories about his family and friends. He passed from this life on February 22nd, 2023 in Tahlequah, OK, with his loved ones by his side. He was 61 years old and will be greatly missed.

He is preceded in death by his grandparents, his mother, Geneva, two brothers, David Ledbetter and Ronnie Carey, and two sisters, Deborah Hall and recently, Connie Carey.

He will be remembered by his children, Eugene Carey and wife Tiffany of Hulbert, OK, and Selena Fielden and husband Cameron of Norman, OK. He leaves two sisters, Eva Webb of North Carolina and Donna Nichols. He lives on in his four grandchildren, Justin Carey, Cheyanne Carey, Kaylee Carey and Riley Fielden, as well as many cousins , aunts, and uncles and a host of friends and loved ones too numerous to mention.
