Connie Laverne Carey was born in Tahlequah, Oklahoma on December 28, 1957 to mother, Geneva (Welch) Dirteater and father, Donald Ray Carey. She grew up in Tahlequah along with three brothers, Ronald "Ronnie", David, and Rodney, and three sisters, Eva, Deborah, and Donna. She graduated from Sequoyah High School. She became the proud mother of one son, Christopher Carey, who blessed her with two grandchildren whom she loved dearly.

Connie worked in the administration office for Cherokee Nation for many years. When she was not working, or spending time with her beloved family, she could be found reading books from all genres. Outside of being curled up with a book, she loved watching a good mystery movie or playing games and shopping on her phone. Baptist by faith, Connie had a warm, inviting personality and a smile that would melt your heart. She enjoyed spending time with her family and her big, adoring dog, Biscuit. She spent 20 years with partner, Tommy Bridges who passed in 2022 after a battle with cancer. The Lord called this devoted sister, mother, and grandmother home on February 21, 2023 to join her brother, Rodney Carey of Hulbert, who recently passed.

She is preceded in death by parents, Geneva (Welch) Dirteater and Donald Ray Carey, companion, Tommy Bridges, her son, Christopher Carey as well as three brothers, Ronald "Ronnie" Dean Carey, David Ledbetter, and Rodney Carey and sister, Deborah Hall.

Those left to cherish her memory are her sisters, Eva Hildreth of Hillsborough, NC and Donna Nichols and husband, David, of Tulsa, OK, two grandchildren, as well as her faithful friend, Biscuit and many friends and loved ones.

A graveside memorial will be held for Connie at a later date Keener Cemetery in Lost City.
