Challie A. Landers died on November 1, 1959 in his home in Bloomington, Illinois, where he had resided the last few years. He was born April 21, 1892 in Christian County, the son of Omar L. and Mary L. (Darst) Landers.
He married Nora Emma Hunt on May 1, 1911. They lived in Greenwood Township raising two daughters. He was a retired farmer and horse trainer, he showed horses at fairs in Illinois and Iowa. He was Mayor of Palmer at one time.
His body was brought home to Taylorville to Shafer Funeral Home where friends could call anytime. Services were held in the funeral home on Wednesday afternoon with the Rev. Ernest Harbaugh, pastor of the First Presbyterian Church officiating. Burial was made at Harper Ferry Cemetery in Palmer.
He is survived by his wife Nora, daughters Delia and Nellie Ruth and grandchildren. Preceding him in death are his parents and brother Omar.
