She was born November 13, 1932 in Sherrill, daughter of Edward Eugene and Zetta Estelle Camp Hyde.
Betty was reared and received her early education in Pine Bluff, graduating from Pine Bluff High School in 1951.
She worked for OTASCO for many years as a bookkeeper. Betty also worked in the Bank Card Center of Simmons First National Bank and Pine Bluff Cotton Belt Federal Credit Union loan department.
Betty was a member of River Road Church of God in Redfield. She was an active member of Volunteers in Public Schools in the Pine Bluff School District, where she won Volunteer of the Year in 2010. She was also on the planning committee for the upcoming 60th Pine Bluff High School reunion for the class of 1951.
In her spare time, Betty loved to spend time with her family. She was always there for whatever they needed, whether it was a delicious home-cooked meal or sewing crafts.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, A.R. "Pete" Heird; husband, Max Reed; two sisters, Pat Watts and Doris Heird; and brother, Harold Hyde.
Survivors include two daughters, Monica O'Briant of Redfield and Becky Drake of Pine Bluff; son, Ronnie Heird of Royal; brother, Freddie Hyde of Little Rock; sister, Stella Ivy of Pine Bluff; eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Burial was in Prosperity Cemetery.
