L & N Engineer Roy Smith Dies --
Roy Herbert Smith of Winchester, an engineer with Louisville and Nashville Railway, died Tuesday at his home on Holders Cove Road of an apparent heart attack. He was 56.
Services will be conducted at 2 p.m. today at Watson Funeral Home. The Rev. Ky Curry and the Rev. Bobby Hancock will officiate. Burial will be in Montgomery Cemetery in Cowan.
A Cowan native, he was born April 4, 1918. His parents were the late Alta Cooper Smith and Leo Smith. He was a Mason.
Survivors are his widow, Mrs. Virginia Hoots Smith; a son, Danny Smith, teacher and coach at South Junior High School; two daughters, Mrs. Dale Gulley, Winchester, and Mrs. Danny Hinshaw, Cowan; three sisters, Mrs. Charles Brown, Mrs. R. L. Spencer Jr., both of Winchester, and Miss Allene Smith, Cowan; two brothers, Ray Smith, Cowan, and Charles Smith, Mobile, Alabama; and four grandchildren.
