Peachie Mae Miller was my grandma she was the daughter of Millard Filmore Miller and Alpha Dora Ball. She was the wife of Dewey Woodrow [Earl] Adkins. She was a housekeeper and died after giving brith to her sixth child. cause of death:Septicemia, From an infected Splinter. burial: On Turtle Creek, April 13, 1926
Peachie's Family was of German descent and moved into the Turtle Creek area of Boone Co. Virginia in the early 1800's. Peachie's father Millard Fillmore Miller had moved into the Trace fork area of West Virginia in the late 1890's to start his family around Manila. Grandma and the rest of her siblings went to School there and had a sister Leora dying at the age of two years old. Peachie had met Dewey W Adkins I believe in Chapmansville WV around 1916. They were married in Estepnow Leet, Lincoln County, West Virginia .They lived with his father Isaiah in the Big Ugly area oh Harts Creek West Virginia. She had gave birth to five living children. Dewey Edwin, Wetzil Wayne, Robert Widdie, Albert Alvin and my father Millard Musco Adkins. In the year of 1920 Her father Millard Miller and Dewey's father Isaiah Adkins both headed out for Property they had bought earlier that year in Hewitt's Fork area of Jackson Co. Ohio. His father Isaiah had left some land for his son Dewey and Peachie as he did for his Daughter Jersey and Husband James Hill Sr. as wedding Gifts. In the year of 1926 Grandma Peachie had gotten a splinter in her arm working on the farm and was going to have a child in a month or so. The splinter had gotten infected and blood posing had set in. She was taken to Huntington and later to Charleston West Virginia to be treated. She had giving birth a few days latter to a little boy that lived two hours. Grandma died the next day in the Charleston Hospital. Her father was the as the informant on the Death Certificate and arrangements were made to have her buried in the Stacy Bell Miller Cemetery in Turtle Creek, Boone Co. West Virginia. Her mother Alpha was legally blind and carried a white cane. Alpha and Millard are buried at the Horeb Church Cemetery in Jackson Co. Ohio at Hewitt's Fork. Millard Filmore Miller had face cancer and Had Hanged Him self on his own farm down by the Spring at Hewitts Creek in Ohio.The death certificate says Millard Hung him self from a tree and was ruled Suicide by Hanging. The informent on the Death Certificate was his wife Alpha (Ball) Miller .
