Alice Blanche Kilpatrick Bailey, 84, of Lighthouse Drive, passed away on January 22, 2023. Born in Portsmouth, she was the 13th of 13 children born to the late Byron Kilpatrick and Mildred Robinson Kilpatrick. She grew up in Newtown area of Portsmouth, was a long-time member of St. Paul Catholic Church, and graduated in 1957 from St. Paul's Catholic High School. She played basketball in high school and later was quite the Duckpin bowler. She retired from the Armed Forces Staff College and worked for several years in Medical Records at Maryview Hospital. She loved her Irish roots, was a great fan of Notre Dame (Go Irish!), and looked forward to the Kilpatrick Family Reunions to see how the family continues to grow.

Blanche will always be remembered as a loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, cousin, and friend. Left to cherish her memory is her loving and devoted husband of 62 years, Robert Earl "Nick" Bailey; daughter Beth Anne Gavin, grandchildren Megan Gavin, Morgan Gavin and Brennan (Victoria) Gavin; great-grandchildren Christian, Cara and Chloe Jackson, Kaleigh Boals, Abbigail and Olivia Breuhl, David Lethig, Brayden and Mila Gavin; one brother, John "Butch" Kilpatrick of Rocky Mount, NC; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

In addition to her parents, Blanche was predeceased by her son, Robert Edward Bailey; her aunt, Mary "Dee" Robinson; her sisters and their spouses: Margaret Adams (Joe), Anne Wakefield (Maywood), Janie Baker (George), Barbara "Bobbie" Zibelin (Johnny), Shirley Shannon (James), Mildred "Honey" Moore (Paul) and Mary Vincent Fussell (Dewey); her brothers, Thomas Leo Kilpatrick, Jimmy Kilpatrick (Catherine), Frank Kilpatrick (Irene) and Al Kilpatrick (Janie); and her sister-in law, Barbara Kilpatrick.

A graveside service will be held 11:00 a.m. Thursday, February 2, at All Saints Catholic Cemetery on Elm Ave., Portsmouth.
