HOWARD COUNTY TIMES 16 MAY 1889 CRESCO, IOWA

-MARRIED-

YAGER - HARDY - At the resident of the bride's parents (William and Mary Hardy), May 8, 1889, 8:30 p.m. by Rev. W.P. Kerr, Mr. Oliver Yager, of Riceville, Iowa, and Miss Maggie Hardy, daughter of Mr. Wm. Hardy, of Florenceville, Iowa.

The wedding was a very pleasant affair and will long be remembered by the many relatives and friends who shared in its joys. The part of the bride cake which contained the wedding ring fell to Miss Lillie Yager. The diviner's say "It is a good omen."

The bride requested the writer to thank her friends, through the TIMES for the valuable gifts, and particularly for the pretty chamber-set, which she received; and the officiating clergyman, through the same medium, would acknowledge to the bridegroom that he was agreeably surprised at the contents of the sealed letter enclosed in the envelope containing the marriage license.

Riceville may well be proud of the distinguished young lady whom we reluctantly surrendered to the man who is said to be worthy of her. - W.P. Kerr
